Gateway to monitor wood in drying chamber

The hardware team at Woodsense has built a gateway that is able to track wood anywhere in wood suppliers' factory facilities - even in closed, tropical dry kilns.

In carrying out the project, the team has focused on developing a gateway capable of sending data and sensor measurements from inside the drying chamber and resisting the high temperature found in the drying chamber.

This is done, among other things, by securing the sensor with a coating that enables it to withstand the extreme climate of the drying chamber.

Solution developed for Danish wood supplier

The solution has been developed specifically for one of Denmark's largest suppliers of wood in construction: Frøslev Træ A/S. Here, the sensor monitors and collects data in the drying chamber at up to 60 degrees to reveal the functionality if the sensor is exposed to the same conditions as the wood when it is dried out in the drying chamber.

This makes it possible for Frøslev Træ A/S to follow the wood from the time it is received, through all processes at the factory and all the way to the finished construction on the construction site!

Of course, it provides extra security for the customers who receive the tree, that it has the ideal dryness and that it has been monitored from the start.
